The economy of Costa Rica gradually opens up to business after lockdown

The tourism industry is one of the main sources of Costa Rica’s economy, and of course, has been hit hard by the pandemic. In the Nandamojo area, this is not an exception. Not only the hotel and business owners, but all the local population of workers that live upon their work in hotels, resorts, restaurants, and all kinds of tourist attractions, everyone has suffered a dramatic income decrease and has the challenge to stand up and come back to business as soon as possible, following all the necessary protocols.

Since the government announcement of commercial flights activity opening gradually as from August 1st, 2020, the Costa Rican government has opened up further restrictions: Minister of Tourism Gustavo Segura announced that starting 9/1/2020, six weekly flights will be allowed —four into Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) in San Jose and 2 into Daniel Oduber Intl. (LIR) in Liberia— including flights from New York, New Jersey as well as the states of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Connecticut.
